Lightweight fill for a CBD landscape conversion
Lightweight EPS geofoam helped transform an open CBD car park into a landscaped public space without trucking tonnes of soil into Darwin city.
Foam Technologies supplied geofoam blocks as lightweight fill so the project could build the required landscape profile with much lower dead load.
Geofoam provided a lightweight infill medium around 50 times lighter than conventional fill materials.
- Geofoam adds far less load to the substrate below while creating stable fill.
- Reduced truck movements helped avoid prolonged disruption in the Darwin CBD.
- Lightweight blocks are quicker to transport, handle and install than conventional fill.
- Blocks can be positioned and shaped on site with practical handling requirements.
